Tuesday Weekend
Lets just call it spring. On Tuesday, Ang and I made it up to Snowbowl for what might be our only ski experience together this year (but there’s always next Tuesday). We made it up there for a two-for-one afternoon ski deal and had some major fun on the bunny slopes where we stayed all day. Ang hasn’t ski’d for at least a couple of years, so it was new for her and I just kept on practicing my tele crap with my girl skiis which works out perfect since we go the same speed that way.

Then there was Wednesday. Ang devoted to study while I made it down to Sedona for a latish shred with the Kilo. All was well as we hit up Legendary over to Rupp Trail on Girdner. We made it all the way over to one of the Boyton Canyon parking lots and all of the sudden, Kilo was nowhere. A few klicks back, she was chilling under a tree with a blown-out paw.
I walked her out towards the Boynton Canyon road - but not too close - then took the 10 zip-ties I had in my pack, and made a leash, and tied her to a tree a bit off the trail. After riding back to the car, I then realized that I left the keys on the ground next to her with the bag of tools. So I pave’d; thinking that the road would be less. An hour later, I was over to where she was with the keys & the bag of tools. I sat there while she at her food. Once absolute that I had the key, I strapped light on, and since it was just as long a ride on the road, I hit up Dawa back over to Girdner again to return to the car to finish the plan.
All in all, it was a 6 hour ride and it felt great. I couldn’t help but think it was a bit nacrisitic to ride Dawa and Girdner back, but WTF? Kilo is on the mend with a nicely blown out pad thanks to her neglectful father, but I’m glad she just chill’d under the tree and waited for my dumb ass to take two hours to get her headed home. She’s an awesome dog. Too smart sometimes.
Up this weekend is the Squealer. If there’s one race that matters to me, it’s the Squealer- Ten years running and Spencer’s got the record. I wished to have nabbed that with no avail.
It’s bullshit.
Regardless, It’s going to be a good ride. I’ve got the Dambala pretty much dialed so it will be a good tech test. SInce the ride in Sedona, the Salsa rims on DT Comps & Revs are staying solid and note that it’s my first real effort on 29’s. I rode by to old guys on full boingers. They said “how you like them Beeg Wheels?” To which I said, it’s like having full suspension, but not.
Apparently I’m an advocate now.
Then, a two day jaunt around Sedona under the mind-control of the Circ. If there are as many people on that ride this year, I may nut-out and do my own thing again as last year. Then… 4 days on the AZT on a YuriRide with a cap of another 3 days stumbling through the AZT300.
April brings good rides.
