Elden Lookout Road

March 18th, 2008

T’was a soggy bastard, but a hint of the thaw looming. This winter has been a good one, but I’m ready for it to be over. I made it to the top of elden lookout road a few days ago on the new Touring rig. They’ve (whoever they are) been maintaining (plowing) the road to the top for access to the radio towers, and with that it’s about the only rideable piece of dirt in the CoCo Forest. It was fun to ride past 9 foot snow banks near Red Onion and towards the top. But it also means there’s probably another month of thaw to be seen. Even Rocket Ridge is sogged.

Dambala 29er, WTB Dirt Drops, Reba, Salsa

The new touring rig: Voodoo Dambala, Reba, WTB Dirt Drops and 8 speed Ultegra STI Road levers… 38/26 up front & 12/32 in the back make for a good two by nine setup. all together a trim package of 29 lbs. It’s the most comfortable MTB I’ve ever set up, and the dirt drops don’t limit the handling very much… but there is some adjustment to be made to get used to them. It’s all about the position.

All that, made for a happy GNome

Gnome give Elden Lookout Road a Thumbs Up.
