Squealer Registration 2008

February 12th, 2008

If there’s one ride/race you ought to attend this year, that’d be the Squealer.

This year will mark (unbelievably) the TENTH running of what is arguably one of the finest underground events anywhere. For those not in the know, the Squealer is a super technical off-road time trial pitting riders against the clock at one-minute intervals testing themselves over the entire length of the National Trail - one of the rowdiest desert ribbons the Sonoran basin has to offer - in South Mountain Municipal Park (in phx, az). And to put a wrench in the spokes, a little past midway, you’ll have to dismount, hike up a Matterhorn precipice and find your egg, then finish the race without breaking it or be penalized! It’s super awesome.

Following the trial, all those attending will group-ride is back up San Juan road and over to Spokes for post-ride brews and bullshit. This is by far one of the funnest single day events around so get in and you wont be disappointed.

This year is limited to 100 riders, first come, first serve. This years sponsors include Phil Wood as usual, and non other than Drunkcyclist.com. Should be a good time.

A blog report from the 2002 version. - and that was the year Troy Nelson and Jason Spencer posted record times in both geared and single speed cats respectively. I don’t think those times will ever be beat.
