2008 24 Hours in the Old Pueblo Live Report - 8:00pm

February 16th, 2008

You can get live results for this years 24 hours event over at epic rides… and that’s pretty cool for those of us that couldn’t make it to the party. Now, after 8 hours of racing, the leader boards are shaping up. Following is a pretty basic report form those that I know about:

At the 8:15 pm update, it looks as though in the single speed 4 Person gig, team Drunkcyclist 4 has given way to Balljack racing division in a heated battle somewhere mid-pack. There’s only one thing missing in that battle and that’s justing Peschka who, according to the results, hasn’t taken a pull for the DC team yet. With Big John being the weakest link on the team this year, he was still able to pull out a 1:35:40 initial lap. That’s very respectable for the big man. Jonathan Scholnick, their anchor this year, posted some fast, sub 1:10 laps in the early part only to have a sluggish (relatively) 1:34:46 on his 3rd pull.
Over on the Balljack racing division the boys are pulling consistent 1:20 lap times which is impressive. It’s going to be interesting to see how it forms up come crack time… let’s say that happens somewhere around 3 - 6 am. The leaders of the category are on their 8th lap at this point, with the Flagstaff teams only a lap down. Currently in the Lantern Rouge position is the other DC SS posse. Proctor must have had a shitty first lap. I bet those boys are having a good time.

Early on in the male single speed solo category, Randy Mason has been creeping up the leader board (now in 11th)with consistent and calculated 1:30 - 1:40 lap times. Nathan Friedman slowed and just lost set into 12th overall with his 4th lap lasting over 2 hours.

The Women’s duo category is seeing some crushing by the Born Famous team of Spring Klegg and Sue Haywood. Pretty killer times their posting and now having a full lap up on the next team. Damn.

With all the buzz of the event beginning to fade into the exauhstion of the night, it’s going to be interesting to see what the spreads look like in the morning.
