It Ain’t Show Friends…

February 7th, 2007

snake on the frontYou know me? I’m mostly asshole trying to be funny guy. Ha ha. Don’t get the drink on either, that will show the full tack. It’s funny in a stupid way, when you re-read your own blog posts the following day. The shit I say sometimes…it’s pretty fucking stupid.

On that note, I’d like to apologize to my man Snake. My small-man attempts to be funny just aren’t. They’ve never worked, why I try? Shit, I don’t know… Look at me! Look at me! I need to go back to the shut up and listen mode. My internals are all wambly.

Fact of the matter: I wish I had half of his tenacity to stick it out as a pro cyclist. To get there, to be D-III or above is to be in a world of hurt more difficult and more impoverished than anywhere else in the cycling scene. I know how hard it is to get to where Snake is because I’ve never been there. I devoted 15 years to that goal too. Now, shit I feel more like damaged goods than ever because I burned out prematurely. And then I give him shit about winning simply due to drunk envy. The truth of the matter is that the dedication and ability to rise to D-III or above is so hard and so thankless, that a person such as the Snake-man needs only encouragement & nothing less…from anyone. It is no different than the sacrifice a monk must make to his diety. Snakes diety, like many of us more slack believers, happens to be a bicycle.

I had the chance for a few years to team with both Rubelt and Tullous on the road. Those two guys are some of the strongest natural riders I know. I’m more confident to say that the majority that may be faster than them, on any given day, are the dopers. There’s no way to regret that time. It was the peak of my abilities and it was in good company. Like I said, I wish I could still be in the fight like Snake.

So with that, I’d like to say to Snake: Good job at Usery. That is a weirdly difficult race to win. Best of luck on the year and esspecially Leadville. Keep your chin up. You are doing good & you have the respect of many including gnomeself to say the least.

I’ll Keep the positive energy flowing.
